À la surprise générale, c'est le film CODA d'AppleTV+ qui a remporté le prix le plus prestigieux de la soirée des Oscars 2022. Il s'agit du remake américain du film français La famille Bélier.
Le film Dune de Denis Villeneuve avait beaucoup de nominations lors de cette 94e édition des Oscars et il a remporté la plupart des prix des départements « techniques » pour lesquels il était cité. Parmi eux, « Meilleure bande originale », « Meilleurs effets spéciaux » , « Meilleure direction artistique » et « Meilleure direction de la photographie » . Le long métrage a par contre échappé à « Meilleur costume » et « Meilleurs maquillages et coiffures », qui sont allés respectivement à Cruella et The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
Will Smith a remporté l'Oscar du Meilleur acteur pour son rôle dans Kind Richard et, juste avant, il est monté sur scène pour frapper Chris Rock au visage. Tous les détails de cette histoire ici.
Du côté des femmes, c'est Jessica Chastain qui remporte les honneurs grâce à sa performance dans The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
